D&C Article On Pinegrove Repairs

Originally, I was going to focus on the quote "but town officials said they hope to have all the work done by November.", and go off on a rant about how convenient "November" is for trotting out a somewhat refurbished Senior Center just before November elections.......and I was going to point out how lightning fast the renovations at King$ Pork would be completed (60 days from the vote if it was yes), but I'm just going to be thankful that a decision was made on spending some money on Pinegrove improvements.

So, thank you, Town Board, for finally stating that you are committed to spending some money on fixing up the Pinegrove building temporarily.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

But, there is one quote in there that I have a problem with......

"During Tuesday's meeting, Supervisor Mary Ellen Heyman denied claims that she previously had said she would not allocate money for Pinegrove repairs."

Tut, tut, tut! I do reMEHmber a quote.........

Read the last sentence.

"Town Board Supervisor Mary Ellen Hayman told us she does not see the Town Board spending any money to improve the Pinegrove facility."

Technically, she never said the words "not allocate money for Pinegrove repairs.", so she can technically deny claims that she did previously state those exact words......but saying "....does not see the Town Board spending any money to improve the Pinegrove facility" is pretty much saying you weren't planning on allocating money for improvements to Pinegrove.

Whatever. I mean, really. I'm so used to this kind of stuff now that it would seem unnatural if she didn't completely contradict herself on a regular basis.

She also has repeatedly stated that Pinegrove repairs will come from "our taxes".....but never mentions that those same taxes would have paid for King$ Pork repairs.

Semantics.

Pinegrove repairs and King$ Pork renovations come from the same federal taxes, CDBG.

Pinegrove is coming out of your pockets just like King$ Pork would have come out of your pockets......only Pinegrove takes about half a million of your pocket change for a temporary solution, while the other idea takes over a million of your pocket change for a temporary solution.

Regardless, the repairs to Pinegrove will happen, and I share the "relief" that Mr. Perticone seems to be expressing with this quote:

"Finally, we're moving forward with the project," said Town Board member John Perticone.

It's a step, and I am relieved to know that it is finally "going to happen".

Yay!

Labella has a "Pinegrove Proposal" - the link is on the main page of the Town website on the left hand side, listed under Pinegrove Proposal. It is a proposal for the HVAC system at Pinegrove.

This "feasibility study" is going to cost $38,390 - this is in addition to the $34,000 for the Pinegrove Property Condition Report Labella did and presented to the community at the Public Hearing-you know, that 67 page report that had the "triggers" and everything on it. Unfortunately, the link to that PDF is no longer available, when you click on links that I've had in previous blogs it takes you to this new PDF of the Pinegrove Proposal for the HVAC.

Here is the "new" proposal from Labella:
