Dangerous Precedents

The Town Board meeting on Tuesday, December 20th, 2011 - during the Public Input portion at the beginning of the meeting - Barone went up to speak, finished his input, then the board called Tamara D., but she wanted to speak about the MP at the Public Hearing. Then the board calls "David Allen" - and Barone says that he is there to read a letter from David Allen because Mr. Allen could not attend the meeting.

MJD says "I don't think you can do that, sir."

Psychics Among Us

These letters were from early in the year - apparently, (according to the letter) a certain someone knew that the PB would give a referral for the Legacy to the TB after their February meeting - the meeting in which they did not mention the master plan or the Town Code at all, and the application they had before them at that time was for property that is less than 5 acres, which goes against Town Code for R-7 zoning.

Party At 1788 Titus Ave

.....and we weren't invited. :(

These vehicles were parked on the property late afternoon on Friday, December 16th, 2011.

***Don't forget that the Planning Board Public Hearing on the application from Legacy is on Monday, December 19th at 7pm.  It is to consider if there will be any significant adverse impacts on the environment, and to consider any amendments to be made to Article XXIII, Sections 235-144 to 235-150 of the Town of Irondequoit Zoning Ordinance.***

The Noi$e Of Water$

"All Day I Hear The Noise Of Waters"

All day I hear the noise of waters
Making moan,
Sad as the sea-bird is when, going
Forth alone,
He hears the winds cry to the water's
Monotone.

The grey winds, the cold winds are blowing
Where I go.
I hear the noise of many waters
Far below.
All day, all night, I hear them flowing
To and fro.

~James Joyce

Meaghan McDermott of the D&C had an excellent article early this morning about the SBWD paying back, with interest, what the Town has loaned them so far.  They think they can do this in two or three installment payments within the next two years.  They are also going to hire a "forensic auditor" to figure out how the finances got so bad.

From the article:  "The town collects payments from the district's customers and writes the checks for the district's own bills." and "The district pays the town $20,500 per year for the accounting services, said district superintendent Lindsay Putnam."

Also, "water district commissioners say they were blindsided to learn in August that the district didn't have enough money to repay the December loan, and that the district needed even more money to pay its September bills."

TB Workshop Meeting Change

The Legal Notices in the Irondequoit Post have an announcement about a change in date for the Town Board workshop meeting. Instead of Thursday the 15th - it will be on Wednesday the 14th at 4pm. Broderick Room, Town Hall.

I think this would be a good workshop to attend, as it is the one before the PB Public Hearing about Legacy on the 19th.   I know everyone is busy with the holidays, and it is at an inconvenient time for people who have jobs and all.....but it would be good for people to attend. Since they refuse to tape the workshop meetings, it is important for residents to attend in person to know what is going on.

MCLS Are Bullies

Link to IPost article for the proof.

“to assist the Irondequoit Public Library in forcefully pursuing a solution to your space and building needs.”

The MCLS wants to FORCE taxpayers into paying for a new library. If that isn't bullying, I don't know what is.

The MCLS claims that the Irondequoit Libraries have “failed to meet standards set for public libraries by New York State.”

What are those standards? If anyone on the MCLS board could point me in the direction of what exactly the NYS standards are.....it would be much appreciated.
