S*ittin' On The Dock Of The Bay.......

Or, IN the Bay.

Apparently, a lovely cocktail of raw sewage (human waste) mixed with storm water is discharging into the Irondequoit Bay via Densmore Creek. Supposedly, it only happens when Van Lare is at capacity, and there are heavy, prolonged rains that fill the tunnels that discharge the storm runoff.

According to Marty Piecuch, this is a common occurrence for cities across the state and country, and shows how far behind the infrastructure is in the U.S.

According to me....people who don't pick up after their animals are to blame too. That stuff goes into the storm sewer, and "dumps" right into your "fresh water". Scoopa your poopa! Please!

The release of raw sewage or poorly treated sewage can transmit waterborne diseases, such as typhoid, cholera, gastroenteritis, bacillary dysentery, and hepatitis through microorganisms from the human digestion track. Raw sewage can also cause skin rashes.

Ew.

Enjoy water skiing on the Bay this summer!

Here are e-mails from/to Bob Ament on this subject.

The above e-mail is from Marty Piecuch, and states that if Van Lare is at capacity, and it rains heavily for a long period of time, sewage and storm water discharge into Densmore Creek, which then flows into the Irondequoit Bay.

Zoom in and follow the path of the creek, zoom out and see where it discharges the filth into the bay.
