Tentative 2012 Budget

For your reading pleasure.....Town of Irondequoit link to budget.

I haven't had a chance to review it thoroughly yet, but there is a slight increase in the tax rate, up $.13 from last year. It was $6.51 per $1,000. assessed valuation last year. It is tentatively $6.64 per $1,000. assessed valuation for 2012. That could change - up or down - by the time it's all said and done.

RAISING TAX RATES DECREASES VALUE OF RESIDENTIAL PROPERTIES.

When the opposing political party rolls over on the election, there is no pressure to keep taxes flat.

Looks like the DPW Department is adding four new hires.

I don't have time to go through the whole budget yet. I did scan quickly through.

Question - looks like the Supervisor has an assistant? Did I miss that happening? It's listed in 2011 and 2012. Did I miss somebody getting hired?

I think an assistant to the Supervisor is necessary I just wondered if I missed it?

Looks like there are some hires in the library too. Will that mean hours being extended or just more employees?

Cheri-

I thought that was her secretary?

I guess that is an assistant...."administrative assistant" - but not like the 4 or so assistants that MEH had.

The Library is probably just hiring more employees.

I don't remember anyone getting hired to be her assistant. Maybe it's somebody that was already working at Town Hall and has taken on the responsibility? I don't really know?

I'm in no way complaining about it. The Supervisor needs somebody to takes calls, make appts. etc. I just don't remember anything being said about the position being filled.

I agree - I think a Supervisor of a large town needs an assistant.

I don't remember anything being said about it either.

Maybe you're right about it being someone who is already working at TH and is taking on extra responsibility.
