Psychics Among Us

These letters were from early in the year - apparently, (according to the letter) a certain someone knew that the PB would give a referral for the Legacy to the TB after their February meeting - the meeting in which they did not mention the master plan or the Town Code at all, and the application they had before them at that time was for property that is less than 5 acres, which goes against Town Code for R-7 zoning.

I hope that at tonight's meeting, they consider how bad the drainage is in that area, and how it could flood like this. I believe this flooding happened in the Spring Valley area AFTER the town engineers, DEC, Army Corp and at least 2 major engineering firms worked over 15 years to find a solution to the drainage issues - and somehow a large 3 story, 102 apartment commercial building will alleviate the drainage issues and not add more to the problem? (Spring Valley is directly "behind" Willow Creek and Larkspur.)

Yes, there are psychics among us. Haha... Isn't that interesting...

Kris Mago ROCKS! Excellent public input! He hit all of the points. I really hope the PB is listening.

Love the part where he said that if they went by the site capacity worksheet (if it was zoned R7) there would only be 65 units allowed. What the heck are they entering an application with 101 units?????

Wow, those flood pictures paint a picture. What a mess.

I wonder why the PB rushed to recommend changing the zoning to R7? Why would they do that without having ALL of the information???

The neighbors came out in droves less than a week before Christmas! Yahoo neighbors - keep up the pressure. :)

Love the resident up right now. He asked where the site plan is and if we are just voting on a thought?

Love it!

All of the speakers so far have been great.

Ron Rigby is up right now speaking about "a church" going there. Apparently, the TB and some on the PB were telling residents that a Mosque could go there.

Any church could go there, and I believe a FD could go there too.

The resident who said that about the site plan or if it's "just a thought"....that was great.

This whole thing was just handled so wrong from the beginning.

Some are even mentioning how many people showed up for this the week before Christmas - when many people are out of town or just really busy.....I think it shows the concern, and I hope that they consider how many people are "the opposition" (that the Chair referenced the audience as).

The cart before the horse as Kris Mago said FOR SURE!

I too hope the PB will take into consideration how much opposition there is. The speaker's have been excellent! Very informed and great points made!

The Legacy plan was to BIG before so they made it BIGGER. Go figure...

Didn't someone say at the site walk that the application would be brought to the October meeting?

Then it wasn't.

Not in November either.

But in December, the week of Christmas, the application is brought up.

Maybe the PB didn't plan it that way - but the developer could have.

Has Legacy shown any drawings of the property to the public at a meeting yet?

Yes, why would they have the site walk and then wait months to discuss at a PB meeting?

I'm not saying the PB planned this but seems like somebody planned it for Christmas week.

The PB hasn't even gotten full size copies of the site plan yet. The Chairman was asking if the Town had full sized plans and if they could get copies.

All of this discussion with no real plan. It's bizarre.

These important leaders are elected to make these impotent decisions for us. ( may 2007 Christ King Meeting)

Remember the April Town Board workshop where Essley said "I'm ready to vote on this now". This is the girl who screamed the loudest about adding length to a pole on the west side.

Glad this publication paid attention to the Hearing. The I Post decided to stay home on this one. They showed up for the cell deal but not for the east side controversy.

Nobody elected the Planning Board - Ricci pointed out that the PB "Serves at the pleasure of the TB".

Exactly.

Who do they serve? The residents who didn't elect them or the TB who can appoint them and can remove them.

A few residents spoke about how this meeting was scheduled the week of Christmas, and it seemed kinda planned that way.

The PB responded that they had no control over when an application was submitted - that these meetings were scheduled last year - it's just coincidence that it happened during Christmas week.

The first document on this blog says that the Town Board had the application in January 2011 - that the Planning Board would receive it at their February 2011 meeting and give a referral to the Town Board to change the zoning from R-1 to R-7. (And that they did. Glowing recommendations from ALL PB members to change the zoning.)

They've had the application since February - but they couldn't schedule a Public Hearing about it until Christmas week because...well....they just can't help it.

Not buying it.....

Also, Legacy's lawyer pointed out that the 1985 Master Plan calls for consideration of Senior Housing in Irondequoit.

That doesn't mean you can ignore the part of the Master Plan which specifically states that the parcel of land on Titus remain R-1 residential.

It doesn't mean you can build senior housing wherever you please.

I am SO glad that the residents showed up to this meeting. It was packed - one person in the audience wanted to point out (before the break) that there were 300 people at this meeting.

I'm so glad that they took time out of their busy schedules to attend. Obviously, this is important.

Well - not as important as 20 ft. added onto an existing cell tower in West Irondequoit - that's very important to defend against. The character of their neighborhood would be spoiled and health and safety of residents could be compromised.

But a rezoning of a R-1 to R-7 to enable a giant apartment building to be built at the top of a hill in an area that has sever drainage issues....well....that's just adding a little bit to the tax base (after handing out lower assessments and COMIDA breaks of course) and helping seniors live in non-affordable housing!

Woooo!

State Law says the Determination of Significance (the purpose of the hearing) is to be within 20 days of establishing Lead Agency.

Planning Chair can do the math. It seems Lead Agency was established on August 24 when zoning bowed out.

So Town Officials chose to ignore state law and force residents to a hearing only hours before christmas. 20 days from august 24 is not december 19.

Still is odd daurizio wanted an engineer to be hired yet chose diversionary tactics. almost like a favor to a friend.

Town Leaders could care less since this is an east side project on a gorgeous part of titus.

Essley said.."I am ready to vote on this now"? Thanks, I am ready to vote you out of office now. November 2013 can't come soon enough.
