Is This Typical?

Rnews(click here for video) has a video up about a resident who is volunteering his time to "fix up" the Pinegrove facility for the seniors, and he has commitments from Home Depot, and Target for materials and labor.

But the Town says "NO".

Here is the article from Rnews:

From the article:

Within 24 hours of last week's no vote, Irondequoit resident Bob Ament got commitments from Home Depot, Target, a local landscaper and pizzeria, all willing to donate supplies and manpower to fixing up the Irondequoit Senior Center.

Ament says the only entity he can't get a commitment from is the town.

"I'm not willing to play politics with human beings. You wanna do that with a bridge or a building, fine," Ament said.

Ament, a Home Depot manager and the town's commissioner of parks and recreation sat down last week to discuss the project.

Ament said he left feeling like the town was on board.

"And I quote Mike Spang, I quote, ‘I would have to be a fool not to take this,’ end quote," Ament said.

R News confirmed Home Depot and Target's commitment to the project.

....and......

Both stores said they're just waiting for the go ahead from the town.

"I have a lot more trust in professional Home Depot remodelers, engineers, electricians and Target’s style than I do in the town hall of Irondequoit, and it's free!" Ament added, frustrated over the process so far.

So, the Town has said over and over that anyone with any solutions....bring 'em to the table....and when a resident does exactly that?

The Town isn't going to let him?

Amazing. Simply amazing.
