Contractual Secrecy



A resident has submitted a letter pertaining to


"open government" in regards to public contracts.

Understanding that viewing the negotiations before a tentative deal has been agreed upon could jeopardize the negotiation process - taxpayers should also understand that there are no laws that say you, as a taxpayer and "employer" of these public sector employees, shouldn't be involved in the process. The Court of Appeals favors disclosure. The governments and parties who negotiate these deals don't.

leaving taxpayers in the dark until it is too late to ask questions and demand
changes."

Since "we", the taxpayers, are paying these salaries and benefits - shouldn't we have a say in it?
