Didn't New York modify the Constitution at the last Constitutional convention to allow the "authorities" to receive tax money without accountability?
Most recent joke is that DiNapoli has no legal authority to investigate the sports authorities in Monroe County. (Today or yesterday in the D&C.)
The Democrats in State and County government are fighting to get rid of those authorities that give away tax money to private enterprises. More power to Mr. Barone if he can get action.
It is a joke, and regardless of the "authority" (sports, water, businesses etc.) there should be accountability to the taxpayers. It's our money they are receiving.
All I can say is "good luck" to Mr. Barone. Some Dems think he's "against government from doing anything to create jobs" because he points out that grants that go to the Empire State Develpoment Corp. is essentially "laundering" the money through that agency.
Dems are only going after the "republican authorities" - they see no fault with their own.
