Well.....it looks like Congel is doing a little re-arranging. To be "cost effective". That's nice. Some new designs on the plans. Great. No demolition yet. Don't know when. Maybe in a couple of years?

While you are doing the "remodeling" on the inside of the mall - maybe you can scrounge up some leftover change from the vacant stores, or the fountain, or maybe around the old food court and pay up that $500 thousand you owe to the Town of Irondequoit. I mean, it's been over a year since the Entitlement date - no litigation as far as I know - if it wasn't due last year....it is certainly due now.
Well, I guess it's ok. Just keep dangling a new idea or design in front of us every now and then to distract us, and I guess we can pretend you're really moving forward.
Or not.
YNN Story. YNN Reports that Supervisor D'Aurizio said: "By doing this, he can expedite the project and start, let's say in July, August to move things ahead to have the main part of the mall in this phase one open Black Friday or the beginning of December."
Evan Axelbank from Ch. 8 had a good report on this too.

It's all very interesting, this new development. However, the subject is the money. Didn't anyone ask where it is so MJD could admit she didn't collect it?
None of these articles mention the $500,000 that is still owed to the town, is MJD going to let him slide?
Maybe the Town could hire Tim Poley to help out. Oh, thats right, thats been tried before.
Yes Tim Poley - we need to blow another $100,000 on consulting. Or maybe LaBella could study the money owed for a gazillion dollars. ;) Oh the memories.
Well MJD did inherit a GROSS PILOT deal. I guess this year will tell if Congel is going to cough up the money and really start any kind of construction. Some media stories like you pointed out Jax claim they would be open before Christmas.
Time will tell.
Personally I think they should be digging in the fountain and pay up NOW!

Hi!
MJD can admit she didn't collect it.
Can the previous administration admit anything that they did wrong?
Ya know, like, signing such a deal in the first place, that doesn't have specific language written in it to collect that money, or impose fines to "protect the town"?
Probably not. Aldersley can't admit she told everyone that there was only 5 ft. around the Pinegrove building - that's why there was no room to expand. lol
I still get a kick out of that one.
I love how Congel claims there's major stores that have signed on - but won't name who they are...his reason for this is that he wants the stores to be able to announce their big news because it's so exciting.
So....if they've signed leases and everything, why haven't they announced it?
Every time they think the "natives are getting restless"....they wave something new in our face to keep us complacent.
A "Look at the shiny thing, people" move because he hasn't done jack $#it.
First it was the "name change".....now it's the "re-arrange".
I can only imagine what's next.
What is next? Carter's pills.
The blog author asked, "So....if they've signed leases and everything, why haven't they announced it?"
I've grown as weary as anyone waiting for Congel & Co. to get a move on this project. I do know though, that sometimes lease agreements such as the ones Congel isn't talking about DO in fact have requirements re: announcements.
Consider that if "Store A" was one the stores that has signed, and a premature announcement was made - an then one delay after another takes place - this would give Store A's competitiors an opening to establish themselves elsewhere in the area before Store A itself does.
By the way, I heard it thrown around that Sony Style is one of the stores. I've been to the ones in White Plains and Manhattan. THAT would be a MAJOR region-wide draw, Irondequoit Mall's past reputation be damned. But, all I can call it now is hearsay rumor.
Mr./Ms. Log -
Welcome, and thanks for commenting!
First of all I would recommend this. ;) (Isn't it funny that his name is Will Hurtt?)
You bring up a GREAT point, and one I didn't think of.
Thanks for adding your thoughtful comment, as it does make sense, and it will help others who read this to understand why no announcement has been made regarding the specific stores that have signed leases. Thank you!
I had heard, a lonnnnnng time ago, that "Joe's (or was it Jack's?) Crab Shack" was one of the restaurants. I think they should name it Jax Crab Shack! :)
I live in Greece, (grew up in Irondequoit and lived there 19 years), but I would travel to the mall in Irondequoit to do my shopping instead of going to our mall out here. I liked the Irondequoit mall, even with the "same stores" that every other mall around had. I never felt unsafe, I never saw a problem when I went there, and I thought the mall was beautiful inside.
With unique tenants, it is sure to draw people from around the area, and that will help the town SO MUCH.
You can read some of the old blogs on here from early 2009 where I am not against the development - I had said a "smaller" plan at first would have been more to my liking - and I never have (and never will) think that 30 year PILOT deals are good for any area.
We were sold this deal on the premise that it had to be hurried through because he wanted to "get his shovel in the ground and create jobs" - well - the only shoveling that is going on is the shoveling of the multitudes of crap he's been feeding us.
Early on, I remember he basically said "we need a new pilot deal OR ELSE" when proposing this idea.
I didn't like that either.
His other projects that had "questionable aspects" to it - Syracuse, Buffalo....even Watertown (read up on the issues with the Salmon Run mall...very interesting) + too many names to keep track of: Bersin, Congel, Pyramid, Destiny - seemed like a shell game to me = one skeptical Jax.
Not trying to be negative, as I would like to see a successful project as much as the next person.
Hope is nice, but I prefer action.
If wishes were horses, beggars would ride.

Jimmy Carter has pills?!?!
Just kidding....I think you are talking about the laxative, right?
I think that's a good suggestion!
Take the pill, then hold out your hands. Put your hopes of the project in one, and the result of Carter's pills in the other.....and see which one fills up faster!
It's fun! ;)

Ah, you are such a youthful little House Fraus ... ;-)
I can remember Carters Little Liver Pills as a common expression while growing up - mostly used as a reference to comparisons, and/or making a point regarding something excessive ... or suggested exorbitance.
I know of no relation, or connection to the Peanut Man - or Laxatives ... lol - but hey, don't quote me ... could be possible. :)
I still hear the phrase (on occasion) from the elders in our family. It's pretty funny if you think about it long enough.
.... lmao - just read my above link in it's entirety.
There IS history in "Carters Pills" having been a Laxative. News to me ... I stand corrected - you're right, Jax!
Ah, I learned something today, and it's not even noon yet (bonus). :)
I remember my grandfather saying "He's got more excuses than Carter's got pills." when I was younger, so your definition is correct too.
I always wondered who Carter was!
I swear I remember a pink box with "Carter's" on it, and it was a laxative.
I think it's still around!
... well, I think you may be on to something, Jax - If my memory serves me - I remember ... I believe it to have been an Aunt saying "She has more shit than Carters has pills" ... lol - Laxitives! (as I spank my own forehead)
