It's a guest essay in the opinion section of the online D&C website.
There are a couple of facts in there.
Like, the quote from the Supervisor about Congel doing something.....ANYthing...at Medley.
"It should get going this year if all the stars align. It will be fabulous for Irondequoit"
I think the planets are aligning with the center of the galaxy this year....I don't know about stars....but I'm not so confident that he'll do something before we all die on December 21st, 2012!
The other fact is this quote from the Supervisor about getting a lot of comments about the libraries.
" she gets an awful lot of pressure from residents to consolidate Irondequoit's library branches."
The writer asks that she substantiate these requests.
It is a fact that this guest essay appeared on the D&C's website on February 1st, 2012 - but it is now an opinion that this letter appeared there today because I wrote about it on the blog.
If you want to know if it is a fact that this letter appeared on the D&C website today, please call the library at (585) 336-6060 or (585) 336-6062 to get the facts.
Thank you.

Dangerous Precedents
The Town Board meeting on Tuesday, December 20th, 2011 - during the Public Input portion at the beginning of the meeting - Barone went up to speak, finished his input, then the board called Tamara D., but she wanted to speak about the MP at the Public Hearing. Then the board calls "David Allen" - and Barone says that he is there to read a letter from David Allen because Mr. Allen could not attend the meeting.
MJD says "I don't think you can do that, sir."

Ads & Letters In I-Post
Here are some items that were in the Irondequoit Post pertaining to the upcoming elections. The letters section had a very good letter from Ginny Maier.
Here's the text of Ginny's excellent letter:
Were developer’s interests put before town’s I was a resident of Irondequoit when the latest Medley Center agreement was signed. Stephanie Aldersley and John Perticone were on the Town Board at that time. They signed off on a change to the town zoning law written just for this developer, which gave him the right to make changes to the project without any further public review, a privilege that no other property owner has. They agreed to a property tax break that Aldersley herself (at a Town Board meeting on March 2009) estimated as worth $40 million. When the 84-page text of the PILOT was released to the public, we were given less than three business days to review the agreement before the Town Board voted on it.
Stephanie Aldersley and John Perticone refused repeated requests from residents for more time to understand the size, the length and the details of the tax benefit provided before their vote.
John Perticone never responded to repeated emails from residents expressing concerns about the agreement. But at a Town Board meeting in February 2009, he made a point of thanking the developer, saying “it’s been a nice process.”
Stephanie Aldersley and John Perticone have remained on the Town Board while the developer of Medley has repeatedly ignored or missed deadlines that were built into the agreement to, supposedly, protect the town and its taxpayers. They have done nothing to require that the developer be held accountable to the agreement they signed.
Stephanie Aldersley and John Perticone have repeatedly failed to act in the best interest of the people they represent in the most consequential matter to come before the Town Board in their terms of office.
Do you think they should continue to represent you?

Q&A
Here are some questions that I have been asked in the past month.
Q: Is the ice skating rink going to be built?
A: No, not this year apparently. Camp Eastman land was not level enough to facilitate the ice rinks. I do not know if it's going to happen next year either.
3/3/10 MPN article on ice rink.
Q: Was Marty Piecuch fired?

Blast From The Past......
Remember, back in March, I did a blog about a page that was found in the copier at Town Hall? This one.
I finally got a hold of the rest of the pages,

Yes! Finally!

Link.
A letter in the I Post that doesn't:
- Accuse anybody of anything.
- Call anyone a name.
- Give misinformation as "fact".
- Give a fake name and address to play political games.
- Come across as snippy, catty, snarky, sarcastic, mean, insensitive, "vitriolic", "abusive" , "threatening", illogical, insane, vindictive, megalomaniacal, superior, or bitter.
- Give a "solution" and say that "this is the only solution".
- Mention "small group of people".
What's that tingly feeling I have right now......why.....I believe it could be "hope"! Yay! Wait.....sorry......it was just my foot that fell asleep. Darnit!
You might think it's hypocritical of me to want people to be considerate and civil, considering that I'm pretty snarky on this blog. But, it's a blog. MY blog.
I don't "FORCE" you to come here to read it, but you doooOOOOoooooo. I know who visits, and what pages they read etc.
I don't "pretend" to be anything. I don't claim anything other than sharing FOI documents with you, along with MY opinions, and video/letters/articles.
I'm anonymous. Cowardly, sneaky.....whatever you want to call it....and not really giving a rip.....I'm anonymous for a reason. Why? That's a "nunya" question. Nunya damn business.
I'm not your elected representative.
I don't write letters to the editor to any paper - although I do comment online to articles now and then.
I don't e-mail anyone other than friends.
I don't send out mailers or letters to people. I don't hold press conferences. I don't call you at home and question you.
I don't force my opinions on you at all. You're free to come and go or not come and go as you please.
But that does not mean I'm going to stop being "me" on my blog. It's my blog.
I can be sarcastic, and snarky.....on my blog. I hardly think that I'm "vitriolic", although some would disagree.....and quite frankly I don't give a rip about that either. :)
I do try to be as polite as I can when dealing with people through letters or speaking publicly to them.....even online.
But on MY blog - I do what I want.
Please.....never forget that!
Anywho......THANK YOU Mike Spang, for submitting a very nice letter.
I just want to clarify, that 13,000 seniors DO NOT visit Pinegrove.
There are, (according to the 2000 census), roughly 13,000 seniors that reside in Irondequoit. At St. Ann's, or other Senior Living Centers that provide services similar to Pinegrove "in house", in their own homes, in apartments etc. Many go away during the winter months to other "homes".
According to the Comprehensive Master Plan regarding Recreation, Parks, and Trails - a focus group in coordination with the consultants (I believe Clark, Patterson, Lee) took a good look at all of these things at their November 2008 meeting.
Here is a link to the Meeting Summary.
On Page 2 of that summary, it talks about the Senior Center and the conditions.

"The center serves approximately 45-60 people per day."
(To view the other 6 pages of the Comprehensive Master Plan Meeting for Recreation, Parks, and Trails....please click on "read more below the fold" at the bottom of the blog.)
I wanted to point that out because I feel it's a little "misleading" to people if you say that "Pinegrove continues to serve the senior population (approximately 13,000...." when the center truly only "serves" about 40-60 seniors daily.
"As the five-year plan unfolds, we will be looking for the end result to be inclusive for all ages within our population."
Very nice letter from Webster resident Mike Spang, and I agree with this quote but would like to add that I hope that the "during" part - BEFORE the "end result" - will be inclusive of EVERYONE giving their input and EVERYONE'S opinions be taken seriously with consideration for EVERYONE, not just a select few making the decisions.
A vote on the "end result" would be nice too.
I just read some of the comments at the end of the guest essay, and there's one that makes a very good point......
"smaggie
HOLD ON HERE......let's check the tapes ....was that not Gail Bello coming out of her coma at a recent meeting indicating that 'we have a date in JUne for Home Depot to come out to Pinegrove'......she spoke the words... fed to her of course by MS Heyman.....was that not her jumping out of her skin yelling at Mr Ament indicating that 'i am not a liar, Mike Spang and I sat down with home depot ourselv es and secured a date'............listen Mrs Bello, this is not your kindergarten class at Helendale you are dealing with............when does this board have to be held accountable? when do the lies and the misleading tricks stop? every single one of those board members should be ousted....one is worse than the other and it's got to stop.............I am so tired of the ongoing and shameful government in this town.....the fact that my taxes are being paid for salaries of these folks....Mr. Spang will be retiring with a great big smile on his face and a nice retirement package no doubt....escaping his accountablility in all of this...and instead of yawning during the whole meeting at town hall, he can yawn from his easy chair at home watching the circus on tv. Beware of trusting anyone...even those currently sitting on the board are going behind each others backs....secret meetings among 'the enemy'....it is really sad. I hope that we can get a bunch of residents to raise holy hell by starting a petition, forcing the hand to get his makeover started for our poor seniors. Anyone interested in helping?"
I do remember Ms. Bello stating at the meeting....well.....she did raise her voice a bunch, and got all angry and stuff, but.....she did state that in JUNE Home Depot would be out to Pinegrove.
Good point! I don't know why it's going to take until "fall" (read: November elections) for all of the repairs to be done at Pinegrove. I guess you'd have to ask the Supervisor and Board why it will take that long to put in a HVAC and paint the joint. Ask them why they could have the landlords at King$ Pork install a new "at current capacity" HVAC, and then the Town would paint, carpet, install alarms and all that stuff they were going to do in SIXTY DAYS FROM THE VOTE - but it'll take 9 months to do this at Pinegrove (March - November)?

I Almost Forgot About This.......
Remember the blog I did back in March about a letter that was found at Town Hall?
Letter:

This is just the first page of the letter, and obviously there are more pages.....a FOI request was submitted for this letter on March 13th, 2009.
I do not believe an answer has been given yet regarding this FOI request, and we are coming up on 3 months now.
We know the letter was sent to Mary Ellen Heyman, and the Irondequoit Town, Planning, and Zoning boards. It says it right at the top of the letter.
Since no reply to the FOI request from March has been forthcoming.....methinks it's time for some repetitive foiling!
If any of you have some time, I suggest submitting a FOI request for the letter that was sent to the Supervisor, Town, Planning, and Zoning Boards. Feel free to copy the first page of this letter that I have on here, and ask for the remaining pages.
Since it was found AT Town Hall, and addressed to basically everyone on all boards....I'm sure there is a record of this somewhere.
I'm just curious as to what the rest of the letter contains.

Letters In I Post Comparison..............
MORE Comparisons?
This time we are going to compare a letter submitted to the I Post versus what is actually in print.
Here is the letter that was "submitted" to the I Post:

I believe the above letter is 397 words.
Here is the letter that was printed in the I Post (between pink lines):

Link To Letters Archive
Was it a "space" issue? Letters submitted must be 400 words or less. The letter submitted was 397 words. The letter printed was only 203 words.
Was it because Mr. Fake Mathew Lewis was mentioned in the submitted letter?
The letter printed doesn't mention Fake Mathew at all, and I can understand that could be embarrassing.....he was a fake. WE know that, not everyone else does though.
BUT........it also doesn't mention Debbie Evans' recent article that was mentioned in the letter that was submitted.
Why is that? She's not fake....at least I don't think she is......why cut out that part?
And......it doesn't mention Mr. Scuderi by name in the printed version either......he's definitely real........why was that changed to "one person"?
This letter was chopped up considerably, and apparently WITHOUT the letter writer's permission.
Compare the first sentences of the submitted letter to what was actually in print in the I Post:
"Mathew Lewis said that mistakes were made on many sides of the Pinegrove issue.
Mr. Lewis those mistakes were outright mis-information spread by the current
Supervisor and Town Board members prior to a referendum."
VS
"Many writers of recent letters and essays have noted that mistakes were made on many sides of the Pinegrove Senior Center issue. Some were due to misinformation spread prior to the referendum,"
Should the public be aware that "one media outlet" has decided to either censor any negative comments on the current administration................or these letters are "being run by the administration first" before going to print?
The current administration did spread mis-information PRIOR to the vote.........WHY in the world is that changed and omitted from the "in print" letter?
God forbid the public knows the truth on anything.......

Now This Is Odd........
Remember the blog I did a bit back about "Mr. Fakity-Fake-Fake" who wrote a letter to the Irondequot Post, and in that letter "Mathew Lewis" said that "but all the town leaders I wrote to, responded to me."?
A FOI request was submitted for those "responses", and an answer has been given, in record time I might add (9 days!),about that particular FOI request.
Here it is, in all it's glory:

Gee, if Mathew Lewis is a real person, and has a real address on Norton Street, and said he wrote to the town....there should be a record of that.
No such records exist.......
And, neither does Mathew Lewis on Norton Street in Irondequoit. We've e-mailed him, but he never seems to return our e-mails with a quote or explanation that I could show.
Here is the extent of what we have from/to Mr. Fakity-Fake-Fake.

But.......Mark Scuderi exists. We've e-mailed him too, and he got back to us right away (probably because he has nothing to hide, and is a real person. That always helps.)
This is what Mr. Scuderi has to say about it:

Mr. Fakity-Fake-Fake Writes A Letter!
This is just too funny. You can tell the political season has started.
Didja see that letter to the I Post the other day? From a "Mathew Lewis Norton Street, Irondequoit"?
This one:

"Mathew Lewis" does not exist.
Wanna know why?
First of all, it "oozes" politics. The whole letter was bashing Mark Scuderi, for writing a guest essay giving his opinion on the way this Senior Center issue was handled.
Mr. Scuderi never said the vote was a fiasco. He said "After the recent fiasco with the Senior Center......."
Also, the infomercial "Mathew" speaks of Mr. Scuderi doing on ICAT was when he was running for Town Council, and that video was paid for by the Republicans......not the Irondequoit taxpayers.
"Mathew" starts out saying "Divisive comments aren't helping." Dedicates a token couple of sentences about the Senior Center Vote.....and then proceeds to make divisive comments, and personal attacks against Mr. Scuderi.
Actually, the majority of his letter is about Scuderi, and not the issues of the Senior Center. He offers no suggestions, or solutions either.
Second, a resident who happens to be a neighbor of the Lewis' on Norton street, found out that the address given by "Mathew" was the same address as their neighbors - the Lewis'- who were away in Florida, and not due home for another couple of weeks.
There is an "M Lewis" listed for this addresss, but it's not a "Mathew" that lives at that address. Norton Street, in Irondequoit, runs between Helendale and Culver Rd. - there aren't that many houses on that stretch - and neighbors know their neighbors, and nobody knows a Mathew Lewis who lives on that stretch in Irondequoit. I think I counted about 40 houses on that stretch of Norton from Culver to Helendale.
Here is a link to a map of the Town Boundaries for Norton Street in Irondequoit.
Map of Norton and Town Lines.

Aerial shot of Norton from Culver to Helendale.

So, anyways....the rest of the story....When the neighbor was outside today, she saw the Lewis' pull into their driveway....they had decided to come home early. She went over and told them about the letter and the address that was given was the same as theirs. The couple (neither are named Mathew and don't know anyone named Mathew Lewis,) called MPN to complain. We are hoping that they write a letter to the I Post to confirm that their address is NOT where that letter came from, and that someone is using their last name, and their home address to play their political games.
Identity theft is not fun. Basically, that's what this letter writer did. He/She stole their last name and address to write a letter to the I Post to slam Mark Scuderi because there are rumors he might run for Supervisor.
Also, it's interesting to note, that anyone who has easy access to an absentee voter list would know who was away, and when they were due back, making it simple to "use" that address for a fake letter to "slam" the "opposition"....because it's that time of year again.]
I guarantee, any time now, "the opposition" will go from accusing a "small group of people" to the whole Irondequoit Republican party.....because the Dems want to get elected.
Good thing Turner wrote this letter in February:

For the next 8 months, we can look forward to this kind of stuff.
Yay!
Anyways....."Mr. Fakity-Fake-Fake Mathew Lewis" has said in his letter:
"He said communication was avoided; but all the town leaders I wrote to, responded to me."
Well now.....if that's true.....there's going to be a recent record of that "communication" that can be FOIL'd, right? Of course there should be a recent record of that.
So......In about 21 days......we should find out if there really was any communication between "Mr. Lewis who doesn't live at the address he gave" and the "town leaders".

Oh...and we found out "Mr. Fakity's" e-mail too. We're trying to contact him.

I suggest that next time, he uses the nom de plume of Jerry Lewis, as I believe it is more applicable.
Too funny. And transparent.

Letters In I-Post This Week............

I do not agree with anything in the above letter, except for the part of letting Bob Ament do the renovations.

This charming letter is just that. Charming. From a member of the Library Board.
Take a bite out of this: Blatantly false information accounted for a lot of "yes" votes too, right? Boisterous "Vote Yes-sayers" masquerading as government & "Seniors First" committees, lost all credibility when the truth of certain things came out.
That's not charming, that's alarming.
Also, I don't remember reading/hearing anywhere that King$ Pork area was "crime ridden". It certainly wasn't on this site, so I don't know where that rumor came from.
Speaking of "Blatantly false information" from another member of the Library Board........

"Unfortunately, many of those who voted in the Senior Center referendum did not fully explore the issues."
Do you mean the "many of those" who were telling everyone that Pinegrove was "unsafe" and that the WISD owned the land around the building "did not fully explore the issues"? Because they didn't do that.
Here's the best part:
"Despite the misleading assertions to the contrary, the town does not own Pinegrove. The town owns only the building-not the surrounding land, not the parking lot, and not even access to the road. The sad reality is, we own a land-locked building that is too small for the growth in our senior population, or for any other town use."
Um, the town owns Pinegrove. The Town owns the land surrounding the building (1.9 acres), and the Town owns the parking lot, and access to the road.
Land-locked building? It has access and egress to a public street, and doesn't cross another property to do so. There is no "implied easement" over any other lot.
Pinegrove is not too small for the senior population.
The sad reality is - people actually believed this junk. If anyone was misleading, it's the people who regurgitate this blatantly false information over and over and over again.
The next time any of these people tell you something, don't believe it until you've checked it out for yourself. Obviously, rumors and innuendo rule their world. Don't let it rule yours.

I'm sure Mr. & Mrs. Schoonmaker are wonderful people, and I'm sorry - not that they have their opinion- but that they come to their conclusions (opinions) because of misinformation spread by Town Leaders. Mr. Schoonmaker thinks that the Town only owns 5 ft. around the Pinegrove building, as Mr. Schoonmaker's letter to the I-Post recently showed. You can view that letter here.
It's one thing to have opinions on why the move is a good/bad move, it's another when you don't have all the information, or even accurate information to make an informed decision one way or the other.
It also seems that this last letter is more about the writer's personal opinion of Mr. Barone, on issues that happened in the past, instead of focusing on the issue of fixing Pinegrove temporarily.
I do agree with one part of the letter, that Irondequoit is becoming a laughingstock of the County....but not because of Richard Barone. It's the leadership that perpetuates false information, and quotes to the media filled with lies. (Can't use CDBG for Pinegrove, WISD owns land around Pinegrove, can't enlarge the footprint of Pinegrove, only owns 5 ft. around the building etc.).
The "inflammatory rhetoric" such as in the above letter where it is stated: "So the seniors you voted against "thank you" for being such fine examples of what this town should be against."
........Shows the lengths these people will go to in order to paint the "opposition" as hateful, mean spirited senior haters.
Richard Barone, and the people who petitioned, and the people who signed the petition, and the people who voted "no" are not "against seniors".
They are against lies, and closed government.
