(Update 2 5/21/11 - more articles on Destiny/Citigroup)
Link to D&C article.
This time it's Vigilant Insurance Co. suing Bersin Properties for $18,277.00 - and they haven't seen a penny yet.
I wonder if he's paid Passero or the plow guy yet?
If it wasn't for David Andreatta - Congel probably wouldn't have paid the PILOT payment and the taxes to the special districts either.

My Take On The Titus Ave. Issue
(1 Updated: 4/21/11 at 10:30am)
(2 Updated: 4/23/11 at 7:30am)
It can't be done.
Quite simply because it doesn't follow the rules and regulations as set forth in the Town Code for Irondequoit.
Bob Spatola was quoted in the recent article in the D&C saying: "Forever wild is fine but it's land that can be developed as long as they followed all the rules and regulations."

Congel Made The 3rd Installment Payment -
- This is becoming a habit! The 3rd payment installment was due March 31st (along with 3% interest), and the last installment is due April 30th.
I can no longer link to the Monroe County Tax Portal's info on Medley directly from this blog. You have to go to the portal and type in the property numbers below, and search them that way. I will put up the first property's screen shots, just to show that he paid, and directions on how to navigate the tax portal:

Whatever
I have so much to write about - but I really don't feel like it. No matter what I write about....I either have some evil agenda, I am "anti" something, I'm handing out misinformation, or I kick puppies or something. I have pretty thick skin....but a gal can only take so much.....I have feelings, you know. ;)
Nahhhhh. Just kidding. I really don't have feelings, so if you want to lambaste me in the comments and call me names.....feel free to do that as well. I can handle it - believe me.
I have a few things on my mind - but I honestly have not had time to research it enough to write a blog about it, and provide the reader with enough information to see what I'm talking about.

Very Nice, Library Peeps
A couple of blogs ago, I had posted a pdf. of a letter that Mr. Golan had sent to the Library about viewing contracts/negotiations.
Well, in the spirit of blatant transparency and honesty - the fine folks of the Library sent over the following documents detailing their CBA for 2008 - 2010 which shows they did receive 3% increases in wages in previous years, and the 2011 MOA (no date on this except that it's based on a 12/08/10 negotiation session), that shows they agreed to receive a 0% increase in wages for this year's contract.........

Four Types Of Public Libraries
While I was thinking about the choices Libby offered at the presentation the other night - link to the video - she mentioned that there were 4 types of libraries. She mentioned School District libraries, which she said that Irondequoit could not do, and she said that she even called to find out.....then she said there were two ways for the library to get more funding - the town can give them more money, or they can become their own legislative district, and she went into a long explanation of a legislative district and the process that would have to occur in order to become one.
Let's see....SD Library....that's one. Funded through the municipality...that's two. Funded through a legislative district....that's three. What is number four?
She never mentioned number four. That would be an "Association Library".

Crunchin' Numbers - Om Nom Nom Nom
So - I was thinking about the Library Presentation from Wednesday night - here's a link to the video - at around the 6:10 mark of the video, she starts talking about the Library finances and the challenges they face. She shows a couple of graphs with inflation rates that keep climbing, but the materials budget hasn't kept pace with the rate of inflation. At around the 7:05 mark, Libby says that in 2006 the materials budget was $270,000 and in 2009 it was $100,000. She's got one of the numbers right. (Hint: It isn't the 2006 number.)
I'm pretty sure most people at the meeting who are not familiar with the budgets and the dollar amounts in it walked out of the meeting saying "Wow. The libraries only get $100,000 from the Town. They need more money!" (Their budget is actually a little over $1.5 Million (from the Town) to the tax levy.)
It's a gimmick "they" accuse me of doing on here - snippets - only showing what I want to show to prove my point. That's what they did with that. It IS a campaign, and in campaigns.....what happens? They slant the message to win favorable opinion, and they only tell you what they want to tell you. Think back to the political mailers you have received in the past, and the claims on them. Ok, now come back to the present and think about this campaign. Got it? Ok, let's move on.

Irondequoit Residents, Don't Forget
Your Library Board, and Political/Library Consultant Libby Post will be presenting their new logo and focus group findings tonight at Town Hall - in the Broderick Room at 7pm.
Be there, or be square, all you hipsters, if you care.
I don't know if ICat will have it live or on live stream on the website - but it will be recorded for viewing at a later time on vimeo I would imagine.
An e mail sent out to the Eastridge Alumni Association about tonight's meeting crossed my desk just a few minutes ago - encouraging the targeted group it was sent to - to attend tonight's meeting. The information in the e mail was provided by Library Foundation Board Member Miriam Ganze.

"Much Ado About Nothing"

That's what Bovenzi said about the inter fund transfers - it was "Much Ado About Nothing".
Never mind that these inter fund transfers are costing the taxpayers in the special districts more taxes.......it just could "have been handled better."
Never mind that the "co mingling" of funds in one bank account is AGAINST THE LAW and is PROHIBITED John......just say "Bah - you're getting upset over nothing."

Library News - Around The Area
I was just reading about the Library issues going on in Fairport (Libby Post was their consultant too). I guess the voters rejected the proposal in December, but asked the Trustees to come back to the table with a lower price/different plan - but they decided not to have that second vote on the revised plan.
WHEC article on voters rejecting the proposal in December.
D&C article on the Library Trustees decision to not go ahead with a second vote.

Here's a link to the Citizens For An Affordable Fairport Library website, which is very informative.

1979
A friend, who is much wiser and therefore much older than I am (nyuck nyuck nyuck) sent me a couple of videos - one of which is the 1st of 5 videos of an interview with economist Milton Friedman on the Phil Donahue show from 1979 (and one that says 1980).
I was 12 when this first aired - so - I probably wasn't paying attention (even though Phil was in our house every single week day - my Mom was a big fan). I think I was too busy collecting the most troll dolls or something.
Anyways, the person that sent this said Friedman was the "most interesting and thoughtful economists of all time" and that he "destroys Donahue with his brilliance."
I have to agree. It's an interesting interview.....even 32 years later.
The first clip is embedded below, and the other 4 are links underneath.

Takin' Bets
On how long it will take Congel to pay his "special district taxes" this year.
I will guess.....ummmmm.....maybe next year? Or, until a reporter calls his lawyer?
1st installment is due today, February 10th, 2011, but he has until April 30th to pay it off with 4.5% interest applied.
